The former Nigerian President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, is reportedly preparing to contest the 2027 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), with high level consultations already ongoing among key political members, especially those in the northern region.
A trusted associate of the former President confided in some reporters that Jonathan has agreed to return to the race, following a widespread mobilisation effort spearheaded by influential PDP leaders.
According to the insider, the former President’s decision is driven by a genuine concern for the nation and a determination to rescue Nigerians from the deepening poverty, economic hardship, and widespread suffering blamed on the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) government since 2015.
“He has agreed to run. The plan to draft him is far advanced. He’s not running for power’s sake but to help ease the suffering and address the growing poverty in the country,” the source disclosed.
