Nigeria Secures 95,000 Hajj Slots for 2026, Starts Early to Ensure Smooth Pilgrimage

Some weeks after wrapping up the 2025 pilgrimage, Nigeria has already begun gearing up for the 2026 Hajj, with the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) taking proactive steps to guarantee smoother arrangements and avoid the logistical hitches that marred previous outings.

With 95,000 slots confirmed, NAHCON is working in line with the strict operational calendar set by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

The Commission’s Chairman, Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman, is currently in the Kingdom at the head of a high level delegation, negotiating accommodation and transportation contracts well before deadlines.

According to Saudi Arabia’s timetable: September 6–23, 2025, is for early contracting and payments for essential services, September 23–24, 2025, marks the final deadline for accommodation and transportation deals, January 4, 2026, is the completion deadline for all contracts; while April 16, 2026, signals the start of pilgrims’ departure.
