King Promise, who is in Kigali, may collaborate with Rwandan artists
Ghanaian artiste, King Promise, who performed in Kigali for the Basketball Africa League (BAL), said he was excited to visit Rwanda again and confirmed that there are Rwandan artists he could work with. He reiterated this in an interview with RBA. King Promise said that being invited to Rwanda for such a big event is a great honor for him. He said, “It is a great honor for me to be on this stage and represent our culture. Being in Rwanda, I love it so much. The fans have always shown me incredible love and support.” The artiste, who is well-known for the Afrobeats genre, said that this was not his first visit to Kigali, and that he has seen that many of the good things are still the same as they were when he first arrived. He said, “Kigali is always clean as usual, it is the cleanest city in Africa… the services are still as good as usual.” Although he had participated in the BAL competition, King Promise said that he has not forgotten that he is also an artist, confirming that he has new songs and an album in preparation, and that he is also working with other artists, including Rwandan ones. He said, “There are some people we have talked to, I hope there will be many good things we will work on.” Among the artists he recently mentioned that they could work with are Rwandan artists led by Element Eleéeh.
In 2023, Gregory Bortey Newman, better known as King Promise, made his first visit to Rwanda, where he attended the Qatar Africa Business Forum held on November 9, 2023. King Promise performed at the BAL tournament, which returned to Rwanda for the fifth time. It began this Saturday, May 17-25, 2025. Apart from him, other artists who will perform at the games include Ariel Wayz, Kivumbi King and Kid from Kigali, who is among the rappers who are rising in Rwanda. The BAL 2025 tournament includes 12 teams from 12 countries, divided into three groups. Rwanda is represented by APR Basketball Club and in its first game they defeated Nairobi City Thunder by a score of 92-63.
