Kebbi Police Arrest Six Over ₦109.5m Gold Theft, Including Correctional Officer

Officers of the Kebbi State Police Command have taken six suspects into custody over the theft of gold ornaments worth more than ₦109.5 million in Ka’oje town, Bagudo Local Government Area.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the command’s spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, said the arrests came after a complaint was filed on September 4, 2025, at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi.

The case has drawn huge public attention within Kebbi and beyond, not only because of the massive value of the stolen gold but also due to the shocking involvement of a serving officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service.

Observers note that the incident raises serious questions about rising criminal activities within security institutions and highlights the urgent need for more serious supervison.
