For the first time since 1998, a Moroccan player has been crowned the CAF Men’s Player Of The Year Award( African Ballon d’Or winner) and this year, the spotlight shines on Achraf Hakimi.
The PSG right-back produced one of the most remarkable campaigns ever seen from a defender, collecting every major title available: the Champions League, Ligue 1, the French Cup, and the Trophée des Champions.
Hakimi proved unstoppable throughout the season, scoring in the Champions League quarter-finals, semi-finals, and even the final. He wrapped up the year with an incredible 11 goals and 17 assists across 55 appearances.
His outstanding form pushed him into the global Ballon d’Or conversation, where he finished an impressive sixth.
After falling short of the African crown last year, Hakimi promised to return stronger, and he fulfilled that vow.
In Rabat, even while dealing with an ankle injury, he proudly held the trophy high, joining legendary names like Salah, Drogba, Eto’o, and Mané.
