Google warns public Wi-Fi users of cyber-attacks

Google has warned users of public WiFi that it could make it easier for cybercriminals to access their personal information, including bank details.

The company said this in a document it released on how to protect against cybercrime.

The company said that public WiFi networks are vulnerable to hackers, who can see all your activity on the network, including passwords for apps you have opened while using the network.

This was also confirmed by other cyber security experts, including Dr Manny Niri, a professor at Oxford Brookes University.

He said, “Public WiFi is a major risk because it is often unsecured. This means that cybercriminals could use the same network to steal information, or they could set up their own Wi-Fi to steal your data.”

Google has advised people to avoid using banking or other services that require passwords while using public Wi-Fi to protect themselves from thieves who could use that information to access that Wi-Fi.
