Former Arsenal Star Thomas Partey Faces Rape and Assault Charges, Granted Bail

Former Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been released on conditional bail after being formally charged with five cases of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 32 year old Ghanaian player appeared at Westminster Magistrate Court on Tuesday, facing five rape charges involving two women, as well as an additional sexual assault charge concerning a third woman.

The incidents are alleged to have occurred between 2021 and 2022 during his time at Arsenal, a north London football club.

Partey was charged just four days after his departure from Arsenal following the expiration of his contract at the end of June. His next court hearing is scheduled for 2 September at the Old Bailey.

Dressed in a black zip neck jumper and black trousers, and carrying a navy blazer, Partey appeared composed as he entered the courtroom. He stood in the dock with his hands behind his back.

He spoke only to confirm his name and to acknowledge he understood the bail conditions.

As part of his bail, Partey is prohibited from contacting the three women involved and must inform police of any permanent change in address or plans to travel internationally.
