An Ibom Air passenger traveling from Uyo to Lagos sparked chaos at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Sunday evening after assaulting an air hostess and clashing with airport officials.
The woman, dressed in a white top and black trousers, was seen throwing tantrums at officials who attempted to pacify her.
Witnesses reported that she physically attacked the crew member, with one claiming she had slapped the air hostess.
Airport police officers eventually stepped in to restore calm.
Speaking on the incident Sunday night, Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection at the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), explained that the altercation stemmed from the passenger’s refusal to follow instructions. He warned against disregarding crew directives, noting that simple safety measures, like switching off mobile phones during takeoff and landing, should never escalate into disputes.
