Cameroon President Paul Biya’s Daughter Brenda Tells Citizens: “Don’t Vote for My Father”

On Thursday, the president’s only daughter released a video on social media where she urged voters not to cast their ballot for her father in the upcoming presidential election.

Paul Biya, the long serving president of Cameroon, likely did not anticipate his campaign for a seventh term to face such a dramatic twist. The reason? His daughter, Brenda Biya, publicly called on Cameroonians not to vote for him in a video posted on her TikTok account.

In the video, recorded in Switzerland, the 27 year old declared she would cut all ties with her parents, accusing her family of mistreatment and even claiming that people close to her wished her dead.

She also shifted to politics, stating she would not vote for Paul Biya and expressing hope that “there would be another president.”

The video quickly went viral, receiving strong support from the opposition. So far, no official response has been issued by the presidency or the government.
