Arsenal pulled off a thrilling late turnaround to seal a 2-1 victory against Newcastle on Sunday, sending out an early warning in the Premier League title race.
The Gunners looked set for a fourth straight defeat at St. James Park after Nick Woltemade’s first half header put the hosts in front.
But Mikel Merino’s header brought Arsenal level before Gabriel Magalhaes rose highest in the 96th minute to smash home a corner, lifting the North London side into second place and just two points behind leaders Liverpool.
“To win in the manner that we have done it, wow, what a feeling. Football is about emotion and going through things, and today we had a beautiful one at the end of the match.” Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said.
