African Stars Set to Shine as Premier League 2025-26 Season Begins

The new Premier League season kicks off on Friday, with Liverpool opening their title defence at home against Bournemouth.

Egyptian talisman Mohamed Salah, last season’s player of the year, will be aiming for his fifth golden boot as he spearheads a refreshed Reds attack alongside big money arrivals Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz.

Several other African players have made major moves during the transfer window, with fresh talent also joining from nations such as DR Congo, Morocco, Mozambique, and Senegal.

However, up to 50 players from the continent could see their Premier League campaigns paused mid season due to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), scheduled from 21 December to 18 January.

Africans are taking a closer look at some of the African stars settling into new clubs and hoping to make their mark over the next nine months.
