The AFC/M23 rebel group in the Democratic Republic of Congo announced that its communications advisor, Magloire Paluku, died tragically on December 10, 2025.
Paluku, a long-time journalist, was shot dead in the city of Goma on December 10. The assailants have not yet been identified.
The head of the AFC/M23 office, Corneille Nangaa, Alumba Lukamba Omokoko Jean Pierre, announced that Paluku died in the Goma General Hospital.
“Following this criminal act, investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible for the crime,” Alumba said.
Paluku was born in the city of Butembo in North Kivu Province and runs Radio Kivu One. He joined AFC/M23 in July 2024.
Since joining AFC/M23, Paluku has often been seen close to the leader of the group, Corneille Nangaa, where he is said to be not only an advisor, but also a close friend.
